    Handsome handsome boy!

He looks JUST like Daddy. It’s like I didn’t even participate! Hrmph!

Wow…what a difference a few years make. He is so cute 🙂

It is amazing – from wondering if he would survive to being 7 years old! Every new doc we meet that we tell about his harrowing birth a weeks after is always astounded at how well he’s doing. Miracle boy for sure!

    He’s gorgeous.
Have fun celebrating…you’ve both come a long way!

I’m so glad to know you are here, friend! 🙂

His eyes crush me in the baby picture…

I know – that picture was taken one of the multiple times he coughed out his intubation tube. Don’t seem to have any pictures with it in, which is probably good as he barely looks alive anyway! Goodness! Glad that period of time is OVER!

    Is that a broviac stent?

Yup, I believe so. The original ventilator he was on was not exactly the right kind, which caused a pneumothorax in his right lung – requiring a chest tube, and later, an evacuation to a hospital with a Level III NICU and a different vent. That pic was taken during one of the times he coughed out the ventilator tube down his throat, much to everyone’s amazement. This kid had an absolute will to live, I tell you.

I recognize it because of my nephew. This was his preemie pic: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/48/147171731_62c066a1f2.jpg

Actually, he was a micropreemie, born 4 months early at 23 weeks and 2 days.

My brother blogged the whole thing and still updates here: http://www.hobbsblog.8m.com/woodyx.html

I’m glad he had the will! My nephew did too.

Boy, that pic is hard to look at. They always are. These kids are amazing to me. They have more “oomph” in their little fingers than most of us have in our whole bodies.
